One of my favourite places on earth…Queenstown, New Zealand

It was love at first sight. The minute I stepped off the plane and saw the gorgeous mountains, I knew I would not want to leave.

Hello, Queenstown!

First up, we decided to book a horseback riding tour in Glenorchy (parts of Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit were filmed there). I wasn’t as experienced as Kira and the others, so they gave me one of their slower horses – a beautiful Clydesdale named Drum. He was so gorgeous, I didn’t mind his slow pace (it allowed me to really take in all the beauty around me). This was, hands down, my most memorable experience from our trip.

The next day, we went to the Kiwi Birdlife Park which is a bird and reptile sanctuary. We were able to see some interesting native wildlife such as the rare kiwi bird and tuatara. There aren’t many kiwis left in the world, so it was very special to be able to see them up close. From there, we took a gondola ride up to the top of Bob’s Peak. I was so distracted by the gorgeous view, I forgot to be terrified 🙂

Our next tour was to the beautiful fiord – Milford Sound. On the way, we stopped at Mirror Lakes in Fiordland National Park. Simply stunning!

From there, we did a short nature walk, grabbed lunch and then made our way to the ship that would take us to Milford Sound. Milford Sound is absolutely beautiful. It’s no wonder that it’s a top rated attraction for tourists. We saw gorgeous waterfalls, seals sunbathing and breathtaking mountain views. This is a place I will never forget!

On our last day, we realized that we had not yet tried a burger from Fergburger. Everyone I knew that had been to Queenstown told me that I had to try it. We waited in line for 20 minutes but it was worth it! We were lucky enough to find a seat amongst the crowd and snarfed down our burgers like the ship was going down. Queenstown – you are both beautiful and delicious.

A delicious burger from Fergburger.

On our last night, we went down to the water to watch the sunset. I usually don’t like to travel to the same place twice but for this magical resort town – I would make an exception.

Goodbye my love!

We are not done with this beautiful country just yet. Wellington is our next stop.
